Our objective is to strengthen knowledge and capacity to effectively anticipate, respond to, and recover from disasters and risks within the framework of disaster risk management.
Risk Analysis: Conducting sound assessments of disaster risks and ensuring strong linkages with early warning systems.
Preparedness Planning: Establishing clear arrangements in advance to enable timely, effective, and appropriate responses to potential hazardous events or emerging disaster situations that may threaten society or the environment.
Disaster Response: Taking immediate actions before, during, or after a disaster to save lives, reduce health impacts, ensure public safety, and meet the basic subsistence needs of affected populations. This includes the provision of emergency services and assistance, with a focus on short-term relief.
Recovery and Resilience: Restoring and improving livelihoods, health, and economic, physical, social, cultural, and environmental assets of disaster-affected communities. Guided by sustainable development principles and the “build back better” approach, we aim to reduce future disaster risks and strengthen resilience.
